A note from Fibernetics
Got a call from a Fibernetics number? It probably wasn't us.
Scammers fake real phone numbers — including ours — to look like someone you can trust. If that call felt off, your instinct was right. Here's what's actually happening, and the few things worth doing next.
No login, no sales pitch — just a plain explanation and a way to help us shut it down.
What's actually happening
We're the phone company, not the caller
Fibernetics is a wholesale telephone carrier — the same line of business as Bell, Rogers, or Telus, just not a household name. We supply phone numbers in bulk to other companies, who resell them down a chain to the businesses and people who actually place calls. So when you look up a number and it traces back to Fibernetics, that means we're the carrier the number is registered to — not the person on the other end of the call. It's the same reason a nuisance call from a Bell-issued line isn't "Bell calling you." Sometimes a scammer also spoofs a number — fakes it outright. Either way, the call isn't coming from us, and we don't make telemarketing or spam calls.
"A Fibernetics number called me, so Fibernetics must be behind it."
Fibernetics is the carrier the number runs through — like Bell or Rogers — not the caller. The call came from someone further down the line using that number, or from a scammer faking it. If our name were as familiar as Bell's, no one would assume we placed the call.
What you can do right now
Four calm steps
-
Don't call the number back
Calling back can confirm your number is active, or connect you straight to the scammer. If you need to reach a company, look up their official number yourself.
-
Never share personal or payment details
A real provider won't pressure you for passwords, SINs, gift cards, or e-transfers over the phone. If anything feels urgent or threatening, that's the tell.
-
Block the number on your phone
It won't stop every spoofed call, but it quiets the one that just bothered you. Most phones block from the recent-calls list in two taps.
-
Report it — to us, and to the authorities
Reporting is what actually gets these numbers traced and shut down. Use the tool just below, and the official channels here.

Help us shut it down
Report the call
Every report helps us trace the source and push these numbers off the network faster. It takes about a minute, and you don't have to be a Fibernetics customer.
Thank you — that genuinely helps.
Your report is logged with our team. The more reports we gather on a number, the faster it gets traced and taken down.
How we fight this
What Fibernetics is doing about spoofing
We can't undo a call you've already received, but here's the concrete work happening behind the scenes to make these calls rarer.
STIR/SHAKEN call authentication
Implemented across our network in December 2021 to verify that a caller's number is really theirs and flag calls that fail the check.
We help trace the source
Fibernetics takes part in the CRTC's industry traceback process, which follows spoofed and nuisance calls back to where they started.
Your reports drive it
The reports collected here become evidence we can act on — feeding straight into tracing and takedown, not a marketing list.
We run zero telemarketing campaigns
Fibernetics places no outbound telemarketing or sales calls. If someone using our number is selling or pressuring you, it is not us — it's a scammer wearing our number as a mask.
If you came here to leave a review
We get it — a strange call under our name is frustrating, and leaving a one-star review feels like the natural place to put that frustration. We'd only ask one thing: a review tied to a spoofed call ends up pointing other worried people at the wrong target, while the actual scammer carries on unbothered.
If your frustration is about a call you didn't expect, the report tool above puts that energy somewhere it can actually do damage — to the people behind it. And if you're a customer with a real problem with us, please email us at fiberneticsnewtsem@gmail.com; we'd genuinely like the chance to make it right.
Common questions
Frequently asked
Is Fibernetics a scam?
No. Fibernetics is a licensed Canadian telecom carrier — a wholesale company that supplies phone numbers to other providers, much like Bell, Rogers, or Telus. A number we supply can be resold down a chain to whoever actually makes the call, and scammers sometimes spoof (fake) our numbers too. So a bad call may trace to us as the carrier, but it isn't us making it — and we don't run telemarketing or spam campaigns.
Why did a Fibernetics number show up on my phone?
Because Fibernetics is a wholesale carrier, the number may be one we supply — but numbers get resold down a chain to whoever actually places the call, so it isn't us calling. Sometimes scammers also spoof (fake) our number outright. Either way, it's like a call from a Bell or Rogers line: the carrier owns the number, but the carrier isn't the caller. Seeing our name doesn't mean we called you.
Did someone hack my account or Fibernetics?
No. Spoofing doesn't require breaking into anything. The scammer simply tells the phone network to display a different number. Your information and our systems weren't accessed for this to happen.
What should I do if I already gave them information?
Act quickly. Contact your bank or card provider if you shared financial details, change any passwords you revealed, and report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501. Then let us know with the report tool above so we can help trace the number.
How do I stop these calls?
Block the number, register on the National Do Not Call List (1-866-580-3625), and report the call so it can be traced. Our STIR/SHAKEN authentication and participation in the CRTC traceback process work to reduce these calls over time.
I'm a Fibernetics customer and I have a real concern. Where do I go?
Please email us at fiberneticsnewtsem@gmail.com. This page is specifically about spoofed calls, but we want to hear about any genuine issue and put it right.
